This is a unique vintage Boy Scouts of America (BSA) collectible that appears to be an original patch design proof or concept sample possibly used in the approval or production process for the "Texas BSA Trails to Wilson" patch.

It features a printed or early stitched patch design on card stock or backing, covered by a translucent wax-paper overlay that was likely used to protect the artwork or note design revisions.

The American Institute of Laundering declares this future patch as "Certified Washable"

This type of sample was often used by patch manufacturers, councils, or BSA event coordinators during the mid- to late-20th century to review color layouts, size, and embroidery placement before final production.

The piece is stamped with a date of August 2, 1971.

Pieces like this rarely surface outside of collector or surplus archives. They offer an intriguing look into the design and approval process behind official BSA patches a behind-the-scenes artifact of scouting history!
